Individual Therapy with Family Modalities: Using Family Modalities to Work with Individual Clients

Greetings from Sunway Counselling and Wellness!

We are proud to present you a workshop happening on 7 to 9 August 2023 about using Family Therapy modalities in Individual Therapy.

An individual’s struggles are not limited within the four walls or in isolation.
Families greatly shapes a person's life experiences and affects their well-being. It's important to consider how family dynamics may contribute to a person's struggles.
Alternatively, family dynamics can be a valuable resource for a person to overcome struggles. Including family theories into individual therapy provides a more comprehensive understanding of the individual’s struggles.
This 18-hour skills-based workshop aims to focus on incorporating systemic perspective and family modalities into individual therapy, covering theories, tools and skills of different family modalities.
Some of the tools and skills covered in this workshop include genogram, circular questioning, sequencing and enactments.
This workshop highly encourages participation by including case discussion and case studies amongst participants to equip more in-depth understanding and skills application throughout the workshop.

Learning objectives

In this workshop, the participants will:

  1. Gain tools and skills set in family modalities from interactive learning in training.
  2. Improve knowledge about family modalities and application of such modalities in individual therapy.

It is our wish to have participants to be engaged and effective learning experience from the workshop. Therefore, it is encouraged for participants to fill up a case summary template to bring into the workshop. It is optional to share, and more details will be given upon confomration of registration.
